Our project team has had a busy summer with lots of work underway to prepare our campus for our new West Slope development. Here is a summary of how work is progressing:

Arts Path

Work has started to update the sewage pipe and install new communications ducting underneath the Arts Path, the main footpath through campus. Work is already underway in front of Essex House and Jubilee, and further pits will be dug at staggered points along the path heading towards Shawcross. The majority of this work can happen along the grassy area besides the path, but where unavoidable, some parts of the path will be closed, and pedestrian diversions put in place.

Refectory Road

Refectory Road is currently closed. The majority of work along Refectory Road is now complete, and final piece of work, to connect the new Swanborough Laundrette to gas and data, is nearing completion. The road is due to open before our new students arrive. Please continue to follow road diversions until the road is fully reopened.

Lewes Court

A new path has been built alongside Lews Court 1 and 2 and work has started to dig a trench along the grasscrete road. New bin stores have also been built and work to build a new fire access road will begin soon.

Swanborough Laundrette

The build of the new Swanborough Laundrette is progressing well and is due to be finished in early October. The current Park Village laundrette is now closed - students and staff are encouraged to use Northfield Laundrette in the meantime.

Norwich House

A new fire exit has been added to the back of Norwich House to allow emergency vehicle access via Arts Car Park. There is also a new path connecting Arts Car Park and the front of Norwich House to improve access for residents. These new routes will allow work to start along Norwich House Road, where new high and low voltage cables are being installed.

Footpath Diversions

Footpath diversions are currently in place to the north of campus near to Car Park 8, Northfield Lane and Lewes Court. The diversions are in place whilst we build a temporary road that will link Refectory Road to Northfield Lane when future road works take place. Please follow directional signage when walking in this area.
