The Business School’s annual prize winners’ celebratory dinner for students took place last month at the University of Sussex.
This event acknowledges the outstanding academic achievements of the School’s graduating students. Previously postponed due to the pandemic, this year cohorts from 2020, 2021 and 2022 celebrated together.
Over 100 guests attended the event in July, hosted by Professor Steven McGuire, Dean of the Business School. The winners were joined by friends and family, course directors, and members of the School’s management team.
Sue Rothwell, together with Business School Advisory Board chair Keith Skeoch presented the ‘Roy Rothwell Prize for Excellent Dissertation in SPRU’ to Hannah Boon, MSc Strategic Innovation Management 2021, for her dissertation ‘Exploring How Traditional Firms Within the UK Construction Industry Are Undertaking Business Model Innovation’.
The Roy Rothwell Prize is awarded in honour of Professor Roy Rothwell and his exceptional contribution to teaching in the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) between 1977 and 1994. He was a pioneering researcher in the field of innovation management.
A total of 98 prizes have been awarded since 2020 to Business School graduating students in categories including Best Student and Best Research Project. Other sponsored awards include the Geta Beker Busjeet Memorial Prize, the Geoff Oldham Prize for Excellent Dissertation in SPRU, the Gladstone Memorial Prize for Best Applied Economics Dissertation, and the ICAEW Prize for Best Student in Financial Accounting.
