Welcome to Cathy McDonnell
There have been lots of highlights this week at Wimbledon and here in OD our highlight has been to welcome Cathy McDonnell to Centre Court! She is Assistant Director of OD, Wellbeing and Culture. Cathy’s philosophy is that she is at her best when leading, motivating and inspiring a team of people to achieve their absolute best by creating high reaching and challenging aspirations in an environment of psychological safety where we welcome constructive debate, emotional intelligence, and respectful challenge to find long lasting solutions that benefit all. She believes that people, are at the centre of every organisation’s success and if we can create a community of shared values, the right support, development opportunities and inspiring leadership and management we can achieve great things!
You can find out more about the rest of the OD team on our web pages here.
This Summer, the OD team will be reflecting on and evaluating the OD offer for next term. Please do drop shot us an email od@sussex.ac.uk with any feedback. Your opinion matters, particularly if it’s served up with some strawberries and cream on top! It helps us to know what you think is ace and what you don’t like, allowing us to create a better and more relevant learning experience. A workshop you love may Norrie-be on offer next term otherwise.
We hope you will also have some time for some self-reflection and evaluation over the Summer but self-awareness should be an ongoing process. It’s the key to being able to look at ourselves with newfound interest and curiosity. This short LinkedIn Learning video explains why it’s important to take time to reflect. You may even realise you’d like to take up tennis!
We look forward to continuing to support everyone’s professional and personal development here at the University!
