Kelly Coate, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, wrote to all taught students earlier today. You can read the full message below:
Dear students,
Thinking about your time at University so far, I’m sure that you have met Sussex staff who have and continue to make a real difference to your time here. They could be an academic that delivers innovative teaching techniques, or maybe it’s a professional services member of staff who has made a positive impact on your experience.
What’s certain to me is that staff at Sussex really care, and every day they try and do so much to make sure you and other students reach their academic potential – the Sussex Education Awards are your chance to say thank you.
It only takes a few minutes to make a nomination and it’ll make someone’s day. So, why not nominate your favourite staff after you’ve read the rest of this week’s update?

University's response to the Ukraine crisis
The University has increased the hardship fund by £50,000 to help students financially impacted by the war in Ukraine, regardless of their nationality.
We'll also soon be launching a new emergency fundraising appeal, and we're exploring other ways to help those affected by the conflict.
National Student Survey prize draw winners
Earlier this week, we announced the winners of the National Student Survey (NSS) prize draw.
If you're a final year undergraduate and have not taken part yet, you still have time to complete the NSS. It takes less than five minutes, and we'll donate £1 to charity for your feedback.
Junior Research Associate scheme
The deadline to apply for the Junior Research Associate (JRA) scheme is next Monday, 4 April, at midday.
The JRA scheme allows selected undergraduate students to take part in a summer research project under the guidance of an academic. Find out more and how to apply.
Santander Union Black
If you haven't completed the Santander Union Black training course yet, I encourage you to register. You'll widen your knowledge about Black cultures in Britain, and learn how to become an antiracist ally to help build a more inclusive Sussex.
One World Week
Finally, enjoy a selection of pictures from One World Week 2022 in this photo gallery.
With best wishes for your spring vacation,
