Recycling Info Genius Competition

Do you want to teach your fellow students how to reduce the amount of waste they produce and help us increase recycling rates at Sussex?
A recent waste audit of some of our campus bins found that 40% of the content in the general waste bins could have been recycled. We want to launch an information campaign to prevent this from happening again - this is where you come in.
If you want to help, then we want to reward you for designing our recycling information and posters on campus through our Recycling Info Genius Competition, which is now open for entries until 28 March 2022.
There will be three cash prizes up for grabs for the best entries:
- 1st place: £500
- 2nd place: £250
- 3rd place: £100
If you win, your work will also be promoted by the University, and you will have a lasting record of your creativity and innovation that you can reference and share to help with future employability.
We're looking for participants to create content for one of two categories:
- How to recycle signs for our external recycling bins. Photos of bins as follows (A3 size window)
- Awareness-raising material for students as videos and web content that will form part of new student induction and education of our existing campus population, for example via social media.
This content should help fellow students understand how to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste properly. You can generate this content through a medium of your choice such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, physical posters or QR code linked web content.
You can find out more about what we’re looking for and how to submit your entry here.
