Join us for a week of sustainability activities as we work towards our goal of being one of the most sustainable universities in the world.
In July 2021, we published Sustainable Sussex, an ambitious new strategy that includes our target of becoming net zero by 2035. Sussex students, staff and wider community are all key partners working to co-create solutions for our planet and Sustainable Sussex Week is a chance for us to collectively commit to change.
Sustainable Sussex Week events are scheduled from 2 - 9 March alongside the Student Union’s Climate Justice Week. Sign up one of the following events and help your colleagues to make the University a beacon of sustainability.

Wednesday 2 March
1.45-3.00pm
- Join our charity partner of the year, and staff and students from across our community as we take out our litter pickers to remove rubbish from this beautiful local space and help protect the environment and wildlife from plastic pollution. Make good use of a late lunch break and register here.

- Do you want to know how you can get more involved in making Sussex one of the most sustainable universities in the world?
- Register for our sustainability webinar, where the Sustainability Manager will be leading a discussion on what we are collectively doing to implement our sustainability strategy and what we can all do in our home and work life to be more sustainable.
Other activities
Keep an eye on the University’s social media from 28 February to 4 March for tips on how to reduce your digital carbon emissions, whether these are from your email inbox or the music you listen to on your commute to campus.
Our students will also be engaged in a number of additional events to celebrate Sustainable Sussex Week, including a Recycling Competition (that will result in the creation of new recycling education materials) and a sustainable fashion thrift fare.
To round off our week of activities, we will be launching our Big Biodiversity Conversation, which will give you the chance to suggest and vote for a range of projects to enhance biodiversity on our campus.
