Following a review of printing on campus before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, IT Services are making changes to the printing service on campus starting from Tuesday 4 May.
The number of Multi-Function Device (MFD) printers will be reduced from 230 to 160 across campus, with 70 devices removed from locations where they are used the least.
All of the remaining printers will be reconfigured so that they can be used by all staff and students, meaning that students will now be able to print from any of the devices.
As well as significantly reducing costs, this will allow staff and students to work more sustainably, saving paper and helping reduce our carbon footprint.
This follows a switch to recycled paper in staff printers in 2020, which saw the University reduce its paper consumption by the equivalent of over 800 trees a year.
