The University of Sussex has been named among the top 200 in the world for its research and teaching by leading academics from around the globe.
The University has been included in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings for the first time in the listings’ nine year history in a further boost to Sussex’s international standing.
The latest rankings for 2020 place Sussex as the 24th best university in the UK and among the top 176 to 200 in the world.
Sussex, St Andrew’s and Lancaster are the only UK universities in the elite rankings that are not members of the Russell Group.
The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only opinion survey of senior, published academics. It asks scholars to name no more than 15 universities that they believe are the best for research and teaching in their field, based on their own experience.
The 2020 ranking has been expanded to include 200 universities, up from 100 in previous years, making it THE’s most comprehensive assessment of global university prestige to date.
Sussex’s inclusion in this year’s list helped the UK achieve the second highest number of representatives in the ranking (25) behind the US with 60.
