University of Sussex named among best in the country for range of subjects

Five subjects at the University of Sussex have been named among the best in the country in the latest university league tables.
American Studies, Art History, Drama, Dance and Cinematics, Criminology and Education have all been ranked among the top ten in the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021 (TST).
Business Studies, History and Psychology also appeared in the top quartile of institutions while in total ten subjects, including Chemistry, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, Mechanical Engineering and Neuroscience, improved their ranking since the 2020 tables.
Overall the University retained its place among the top 50 universities in the country with a ranking of 44th.
The TST uses nine indicators to rank universities; student experience, teaching quality, research quality, completion rate, graduate outcomes, entry standards, student/staff ratio, firsts and 2:1s, and services/facilities spend), using data obtained from various sources including HESA (Staff, Student and Finance data), the latest available NSS data and new Graduate Outcomes data for 2017/18.
The University scored above the 2020 sector median in research quality, entry standards, graduate prospects, completion rate, student-staff ratio and services/facilities spend.
