Last updated: Wednesday, 9 September 2020
The Spirit of Sussex Award is a new student award launching in September 2020 which celebrates students’ extracurricular efforts and voluntary achievements. The award is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students at Sussex and BSMS.
Students have the length of their degree programme to undertake different activities towards the award, such as part-time work or volunteering. They can then log activities on the brand-new award platform and gain points towards either a Bronze, Silver or Gold Spirit of Sussex award. They will be awarded an additional certificate at graduation and their award will appear on their transcript.
The award is aimed at wellbeing and supporting the transition to university and encourages students to build a wider network when at Sussex. Participating in activities outside the classroom can help students to find their community and to feel connected to Sussex. The award is also influenced by Sussex’s institutional values and encourages students to demonstrate these values through the activities they undertake.
The Spirit of Sussex Award team really encourages staff to speak to students about participating in the award. More information is available on the Spirit of Sussex Award Instagram page. Students can register for the award on the online platform from Monday 28 September.
