Something BIG happened in September

What were you doing on 16 September 2019? Was it just another day?
Well for me and 329 other people at Sussex, that date marked something incredible – we launched the Learn to Transform: The Pedagogic Revolution.
This event proved to be so popular 330 Academic and Professional Services staff attended. So many in fact, that we had to turn people away who hadn’t registered!
When I was there I shared my thoughts on camera, and when you watch you’ll see just how excited I was.
That short film was produced in Panopto a new tool we demonstrated on the day. It’s our new online media platform, and it provides a range of new features to enhance teaching at the University – and create accessible videos for communications purposes too.
Previously, I wrote about how this would be no normal event and that those attending would engage in a range of exciting activities – and I was not wrong. In every session you couldn’t help but share in the enthusiasm as people explored subjects including:
- Understanding ‘Gen Z’
- TED style talks
- Hacking assessment methods
- Outdoor learning ideas
- Co-creation of inclusive curricula
- A virtual tour of campus
- The launch of the Learn to Transform Network
I’ve said before that ‘A revolution begins, but cannot be achieved in a day’, and that’s why we will continue to build on the momentum, and even if you were unable to attend the launch event you can still join the Revolution.
I encourage everyone to enrol on the Learn to Transform Canvas site and take part in the discussions about the Education Manifesto – and look out for my ‘Kindness Challenge’ coming up soon.
Lastly, make sure you keep an eye out for the Education Manifesto Roadshow events,
