Professor Robin Banerjee is to be the Interim Head of the School of Psychology.
He will take up his post on 1 August 2019, following the completion of Professor Tom Ormerod’s term of office.
Professor Ormerod will revert to his professorial role and continue to focus on his world-renowned research into investigative psychology.
Professor Saul Becker, Provost, said: “Tom has been a fantastic head of school for Psychology over the past five years. Under his leadership, the school has cemented its reputation as one of the most well-respected psychology departments in the country.
“In Robin, I am convinced we have the perfect person to take up the mantle and continue this great work.”
Professor Banerjee has worked at Sussex for more than 20 years and is currently Deputy Head of School. A developmental psychologist, his current research focuses on the role of kindness in education.
