Final year undergraduates on the Accounting and Finance, Business and Management Studies, International Business, and Marketing and Management BSc courses presented their dissertation and final research project topics at a special poster exhibition on Friday 11 May, with a £50 Amazon voucher on offer for the best poster.
Visitors to the exhibition had plenty of interesting and insightful projects to discover as they worked their way around the room, with 93 posters on display covering topics including:
- gender equality in boardrooms and the workplace
- the influence of ethical initiatives on young adults’ decision making
- the impact of social media advertising on spending habits
- the effect of job insecurity on the leadership style of football managers
- consumer perceptions of organic certification in the UK spirits industry.
Visitors were encouraged to vote for their favourite poster, with Marketing and Management BSc student Ellie Keith winning the most votes – and the prize for best poster – for her project investigating the level of trust that so-called Generations X and Y have in social media marketing communications. Congratulations Ellie!
After receiving her prize, Ellie was keen to share her thoughts on the value of the poster exhibition for students: “As someone who really enjoys being creative, being given the opportunity to visualise my research project into a poster was great. I felt proud when I saw it on display at the showcasing event, it is a great way for others to see what we've all been spending all year working hard on!”
Dr Shova Thapa Karki, module convenor for N1052 Research Project and organiser of the event, also commented: “Every year, we organise the poster event showcasing research from our final year undergraduate students. The event is very inspiring as it shows the effort, dedication and enthusiasm our students have put into their research and creating the posters.”
