A group of third year undergraduate students from the School of Business, Management and Economics has taken a week-long study trip to Berlin to learn about supply chains, sustainability and cultural awareness.
The trip was part of a wider programme of study trips organised by the School to give students an international experience and allow them to see how theory they've learned in class is applied in real-world organisations.
Highlights included two company visits at Siemens and Berliner Pilsner with a focus on supply chain management, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, as well as two half-day workshops organised by the German Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency on equalities at work and cultural awareness, with a particular focus on the job application process.
Students also worked in teams to discover ‘the Story of Berlin’, starting with a marketing-focused visit to the Olympic Stadium. History met critical thinking at an atomic shelter, the Wall Museum, the former Stasi prison ‘Hohenschoenhausen’, the House of Parliament and the office of Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The trip allowed students to develop skills such as time management, perseverance, endurance and tolerance.
