The Enactus Sussex team have won an award for 'Most Improved Team' at the Enactus World Cup hosted at the Excel centre in London.
While most students up and down the country were enjoying their summer, the Sussex Enactus team were working hard earning their award. The award category was part of the Enactus Summer Action competition, sponsored by Diageo, the multinational beverage company.
The team commented:
"We started almost from scratch with a whole new team - we’ve had one of our most successful summers for recruitment by quadrupling our membership and taking part in four recruitment events throughout Freshers' Week to boost our membership further, leading us to completely restructure our team.
"We utilised Mailchimp to design a new method of communication with our support network and gained a new Business Advisor. We also started three new projects, and partially funded one of these with a generous grant of £7000 from the School of Business, Management and Economics.
"The competition was, fierce with 26 teams submitting evidence of their efforts over the summer. Those 26 teams were shortlisted to just six, with three in each category.
"Each team then had to create a five-minute video to creatively explain what we did over the summer to be shown to the judges at Diageo.
"As a reward for our hard work we received a trophy, the privilege of bringing the World Cup onto the stage at the Enactus World Cup opening ceremony and £500 to help us run our projects this year, and the year hasn’t even really started yet!"
