The University of Sussex has risen in a major international league table.

The University has today (Tuesday 5 September) been ranked 147^th - up two places on last year - in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018.

This is the eighth consecutive year that Sussex has been placed within the world’s top 150 universities.

The University’s large proportion of international students and staff and the global reach of its research saw it ranked in the world’s top 10 per cent for international outlook.

Adam Tickell, University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor, said: “This sends out a strong message to the world that Sussex is a truly global institution.  To stay in the world’s top 150 for so long is a fantastic achievement and is testament to our consistently excellent teaching and research. Congratulations to all our staff for the part you have played.”

The rankings were expanded again this year by more than 100 universities, taking the total to 1,102.

The THE World University Rankings are the only global university league tables to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. 

The University is also scoring highly at home, currently ranking in the top 20 of the three major UK league tables.
