The University of Sussex’s School of Business, Management and Economics (BMEc) is within the UK's top five business schools for research income, according to a new report by the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS).
The report, Research Income for Business and Management: Analysis of HESA data 2010/2011-2015/2016, places Sussex at fifth of 14 institutions whose business schools' total research income was greater than £4 million between 2013/14 and 2015/16. The rest of the top five includes Warwick, Imperial, Manchester and Oxford.
BMEc's total research income over the two year period was £8.161 million - almost double the research funding received by the School between 2011/12 and 2013/14 (£4.45 million).
Head of School Professor Steven McGuire said:
"This report places us in sensational company and is recognition that we’re among the best management schools in the UK for research.
"Given the wider decline in business research funding, this report is proof that we're among a small group of institutions bucking a national trend. The level of funding we receive is a clear reflection of our strong research impact and influence."
