Across the University, staff regularly need to source quality images and videos for use in print and online. To meet this ongoing need the Digital and Creative Media team, part of the Student Recruitment and Marketing Division, has launched the University of Sussex Asset Bank. Currently the Asset Bank hosts around 1,000 images, but it will be regularly refreshed with images taken in the new brand style.
When you visit the University's Asset Bank you will be able to search the archive of images. There are various ways in which the archive can be searched, including by the intuitive search bar, using the keyword list or by doing an advanced search. There are also feeds on the site home page for promoted and recently added items.
“Last year the University of Sussex went through a brand refresh, incorporating the launch of new brand guidelines,” said Mark Tobin, Head of Digital and Creative Media. “The new Asset Bank system will really help University staff to find fantastic images that meet brand requirements.”
Visitors to the website can place images they want to use in a lightbox to keep track of them. They can then request to download the images by sending an email with the image ID numbers and the intended use to the administrator.
As well as being visible to University staff, the Asset Bank can be viewed by any member of the public. In this way it can showcase Sussex life to potential students, be searched by international partners, and enjoyed by anyone else interested in the University.
The Digital and Creative Media team are currently identifying and training admin users across Schools and Departments, who will be given additional functionality and the ability to upload as well as download images. The team also plan to run introductory training sessions for staff in the use of Asset Bank.
