International cuisine being served by the STREET EAT team

SussexFood have brought the current street food craze to Sussex, with the STREET EAT truck offering different street foods from around the world.

Street food in the UK has undergone somewhat of a renaissance in recent years and the SussexFood STREET EAT truck is picking up this baton. New cuisines are being introduced (Ethiopian “Dora Wat” curry), while traditional dishes are receiving a contemporary make-over (Peruvian chicken skewers with salsa de perejil).

Now, with a couple of weeks of operation under its belt, STREET EAT is ready to launch proper with a new menu, specially designed to celebrate global cuisine.

Each weekday of One World Week (16-21 March) will bring an international cuisine to Sussex, and aims to introduce people to novel flavours and ingredients. You can keep up to date with the week's streetfood showcase here.

The planned menu:

• Monday: East Africa - “Dora Wat” with rice (Ethiopian chicken curry)
• Tuesday: Mediterranean  - Albondigas en salsa sub with grated Manchego cheese (Spanish meatballs)
• Wednesday: Indian Subcontinent - tandoori kati roll
• Thursday: East Asia - Banh Mai Vietnamese pork with pickled mouli and yellow Thai curry and rice
• Friday: Latin American – Lime-marinated grilled chicken skewer, quinoa and aji rocotto salad, Peruvian salsa de perejil

SussexFood Exec Chef, Luca Nervi, said: “Street food is at an extremely exciting place at the moment. And to bring it to Sussex every day is fantastic for everyone. I can’t wait for our One World Week menu to kick off – I’m sure people are going to really love the diverse and vibrant dishes.”

Any dishes that are particularly well received can become regular STREET EAT options, so please be vocal with your feedback. STREET EAT loyalty cards will also be newly available, granting customers a free lunch once they collect 10 stamps. (Customers receive one stamp for every £2.50 spent.)

The truck will be situated in the centre of campus, on the thoroughfare between Bramber House and Jubilee building. On Thursday, however, the East Asian street food will be served from pop-up tents on Library Square as part of the Sussexsport festival.
