The Centre for German-Jewish Studies at the University of Sussex and the Austrian Cultural Forum will hold an international workshop on 'Freud and Psychoanalysis' in honour of the 75th birthday of Professor Edward Timms. As the founder of the Centre for German Jewish Studies at Sussex, Edward Timms is best known for his research on the Jews of Vienna in the early twentieth century. Developing an innovative research methodology which involves the mapping of circles of intellectual creativity in diagrammatic form, Timms' work has inspired a new generation of scholars to seek out new ways of thinking about the life and work of leading intellectuals such as Sigmund Freud. This workshop will bring together leading scholars to discuss Freud's work within the tradition set out by Edward Timms.
