There are food bank collection points in all student residences on campus and in the Meeting House.

The British Heart Foundation regularly collects donations from their campus donation points.

If you have tins or packets of non-perishable food in your campus accommodation that you will not be taking with you, please consider donating them to the University Food Bank when you leave for the summer.

All food donated will go to the Meeting House Pantry, which is available to students suffering from hardship and who have been referred by the Hardship team. Any surplus food will be shared with charity FareShare, which supports local food banks.

You can find collection points in all campus student residences and in the Meeting House, which is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm during the summer.

Food you can donate

The University Food Bank only collects unopened non-perishable food. Some examples include:

• Tinned food: vegetables, legumes, fish, meat
• Rice
• Pasta
• Noodles
• Pasta sauce
• Long life milk
• Tea and instant coffee
• Snacks: biscuits, crisps, crackers, cereal bars
• Spreads: jam, peanut butter, honey, marmite

The collection point crates in the student residences will be available until the end of June.

Donating other items

There are British Heart Foundation containers at the receptions of East Slope, Swanborough, Lewes Court, Northfield, and Stanmer Court, as well as in some academic buildings. This charity accepts books, crockery, clothes, shoes and small electricals, and collects the donated items on a regular basis.
