A memorial event for Maria Magdalena Portmann was held at Lewes's All Saints Centre on 12th November 2022.
Magdalena, as she was known, was the Administrator for the University of Sussex's School of Cognitive Studies. She had a direct, engaging and forceful manner, such that she became the personification and perhaps the soul of COGS in the period of its existence.In retirement Magdalena became an expert on the Alexander Technique and was its leading proponent in Lewes, where she lived. She also delighted in playing the accordion, and was a regular attender at a Circle Dance group in Lewes.
