A programme of events on campus this week will celebrate your mental and physical wellbeing.
Workshops, taster sessions and other events on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (9-11 April) make up Wellbeing Week.
On Tuesday (9 April) the Well Fair in Library Square from 11am-3pm will offer free healthy food, information from campus and local services, free massage and more.
The key event on Thursday (11 April) will be Sussex Mental Health Awareness Day, when both the University and the Students’ Union will join other organisations in signing a ‘Time to Change’ pledge to end mental-health discrimination.
The national Time to Change campaign, which is led by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness and funded by Comic Relief and the Department of Health, promotes better understanding to combat discrimination towards people who experience mental health problems.
Also planned for Sussex Mental Health Awareness Day is the screening of a short film by campus TV station UniTV, exploring the issues faced by Sussex students who experience mental-health issues.
You can sign up for Wellbeing Week workshops (to combat stress, insomnia and procrastination, and on revision and breathing techniques), yoga taster sessions and free massage via the emails shown in the programme or by emailing healthandwellbeing@sussex.ac.uk. But sign up soon - places are limited!
All activities are run by the University and the Students’ Union and are open to staff and students.
- The new health and wellbeing web pages, which are now live at www.sussex.ac.uk/wellbeing, contain useful information and resources for students. Comments and suggestions for further health and wellbeing information or related news and events are most welcome; E healthandwellbeing@sussex.ac.uk
