AMBER Cold-Health Alert: South East (02/01/2025 – 12/01/2025)

An Amber Cold-Health Alert has been issued for the South East due to likely very cold temperatures. This alert, in place from 12 PM on 02/01/2025 to 12 PM on 08/01/2025, will be reviewed daily. The cold poses health risks for all, especially vulnerable groups such as those aged 65+, people with long-term health conditions, or those without a home.

Advice for Staying Warm and Well:

Cold weather can exacerbate respiratory or cardiovascular conditions, increase risks of heart attacks, strokes, and falls, and impact mental health. To mitigate risks:

• Stay warm indoors and dress appropriately for the weather.
• Check on vulnerable neighbors or relatives.

Who’s Most at Risk?

• Older adults (65+) and young children (especially under 5).
• People with long-term illnesses, learning disabilities, or mental health conditions.
• Those housebound, with low mobility, or on low incomes.
