As a Sussex student or staff member, learning a new language couldn’t be easier! Our affordable, fun, and comprehensive short courses fit your lifestyle. Choose from a range of lunchtime and evening sessions, designed to help you learn alongside your studies or work.

Language short courses are open to everyone and include learners from many backgrounds and ability levels. You’ll join a diverse, friendly community of students and staff who are eager to learn new languages, meet new people and make new friends. 

Many of our tutors also teach at degree level and are passionate about delivering quality teaching that is tailored to your learning goals. To help you choose the right level of learning, all our language courses are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At the end of your course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion, confirming the language level you attained.
