This Saturday 6 May is the coronation of King Charles III, who is the University of Sussex’s official visitor following the signing of the University’s Royal Charter over 60 years ago. All across the country people will be celebrating the formal investiture of the monarch. Here at the University, we’ll also be marking the occasion.
Coronation food on campus

All this week, we have some very exciting, limited-time-only specials coming to campus, including a menu of British favourites at Eat Central, Afternoon Tea in a Box, and the official Coronation Quiche.

Record your day for posterity
The Mass Observation Archive, housed in the Keep here at Sussex, has recorded royal events since George VI's Coronation on 12 May 1937.
This year, Mass Observation is keen to find out how the coronation is commemorated, whether people take part in any events or activities and what they think and feel about the occasion. They are also keen to hear from those who will not be following events.
