Vice-Chancellor Sasha Roseneil held her first ‘open office’ session at the Student Centre last Thursday (13 October). Professor Roseneil became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sussex in August 2022.
Currently taking place twice a term, these sessions provide an informal space for you to share your experiences as a Sussex student. Students are welcome to book a slot for a one-to-one meeting or to bring a couple of friends or society members. Attending is one of many ways to share your feedback – to let University staff know what is going well and what could be improved.
The 15-minute conversations covered themes including settling into university life as an international student, ideas for shaping our Therapeutic Services, and the University’s sustainability strategy.
Kelo Uchendu (pictured above) is studying for a Masters in Science and Technology Policy with the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex Business School. Having completed his undergraduate studies in his home country of Nigeria, Kelo works to engage young people in efforts to tackle climate change.
Reflecting on the event, Sasha said: “I very much enjoyed meeting all the students who attended and I felt energised by the passion they brought to our conversations. I am looking forward to meeting many more of our students at events this year. If you see me around our beautiful campus, please do say hello if you would like to.”
The next event will take place in the Student Centre from 10am to 11.30am on Wednesday 16 November. If you would like to book a slot, please email the Student Communications team at internalcomms@sussex.ac.uk with the subject “Student session with the Vice-Chancellor”.
