Bramber House access and works: Update 7 October 2022

Last updated: Friday, 7 October 2022
Works to support the staircases on the west side of Bramber House have been completed and, from 10 October, most of the building will be brought back into use, though with reduced occupancy levels in some areas due to safe evacuation numbers.
Current situation:
- Floor 4: Staff who work on the 4th floor of Bramber House can continue to work as usual;
- Floor 3: The 3rd floor can once again be used for conferencing with a maximum occupancy of 220 guests plus conference staff. The Terrace Room can only accommodate 60 people;
- Teaching rooms – floors 1 and 2: Most seminar teaching originally scheduled to take place in Bramber House this Semester is now taking place in alternate space in order to mitigate disruption to student's timetables. Teaching scheduled to take place Bramber House Room 120 has already resumed, and this will continue to be delivered from this space for the rest of the Semester.
- However, the rooms can now be occupied, and be booked for ad-hoc bookings. Anyone requiring to make an ad-hoc booking should contact roombookingsteam@sussex.ac.uk and allow 2-3 days for their request to be processed and confirmed.
- Offices – floors 1 and 2: All offices are unaffected and can be occupied.
- Ground floor: Eat Central and the Co-Op are fully opened and can be accessed via Arts Path and Refectory Road entrances.
Next steps
- Plans are being put in place for long-term fixes to the building, which are anticipated to be completed ready for the September 2023 student intake.
