As Chinese New Year celebrations begin, the University of Sussex is launching a brand new microsite for Chinese audiences.
Part of a wider campaign to further raise our profile in China, the site is aimed at current and prospective Chinese students and alumni, their friends and families, and our partners, offering easy access to official information about Sussex.
Optimised for Chinese-speaking audiences, the microsite provides useful and engaging content in Chinese, making it accessible for those with limited English language skills. It offers a warm, personal approach and information tailored to the audience including key academic schools, entry requirements and application guidance, videos on student life and news and events. It also provides alumni and career support, key contacts and the University’s latest updates on Covid-19.
The site, along with our official accounts on mainstream social media platforms, will be key to raising our digital profile in mainland China and East Asia more generally making it easier for audiences to access to the University’s official information.
Martin Hookham-Simms, Head of International Office, says: "Our new microsite offers a window into life at Sussex for our Chinese-speaking audiences and offers a fantastic source of information and support for not only prospective and current students, but their friends and families too. It promises to spearhead our digital presence in China and help us further raise the profile of Sussex in this key region, celebrating the huge contribution our Chinese students make to our University. I would like to thank our teams in International Office East Asia, Digital and Creative Media and General Counsel, along with everyone who contributed to development of content, for their invaluable contribution to bringing our microsite to life."
The official launch, which is supported with a wide-reaching campaign on social media and partner channels, coincides with Chinese New Year which is traditionally associated family celebrations and good fortunes for the year ahead. A festive video with messages from our senior leadership, the International Office and academic schools is embedded on the microsite, showcasing the University’s supportive and welcoming approach for our Chinese students, families and friends.
