Today Kelly Coate, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, wrote to all taught students. You can read her message below:
Dear students,
Happy 2022! I hope you had a nice break and you're full of energy for the New Year. Welcome to our students already on campus and we're looking forward to welcoming everyone else back on campus for the start of teaching on 24 January.
In my first update of 2022, I talk about:
- testing before you come back to campus
- a general reminder of our covid-19 guidelines
- vaccination status survey
- looking after your wellbeing during assessment time
Testing before you come back to campus
Following Government's guidelines, you must take a lateral flow device (LFD) test at home either the evening or morning before coming onto campus, to check you haven’t got Covid-19.
Once you’ve resumed your studies, we strongly encourage you to take two LFD tests a week to protect everyone in the community. You can get free packs from any of the collection points on campus.
If you test positive for covid-19 after you return to campus, please fill the report form to let us know and request your support package.
Covid-19 guidelines
Face coverings, unless you are exempt, must be worn in crowded and enclosed spaces on campus - including all teaching spaces, the Meeting House and the Library at all times (including when sitting at a study desk). Please also follow the instructions on the signage you'll find across campus.
We strongly encourage all students to get the Covid-19 vaccine or the booster jab to protect yourself, those you care about and the wider community. Book your Covid-19 vaccination appointment on the NHS website.
You can find our latest Covid-19 guidance on the Student Hub.
Vaccination status survey
Next week we will run a new vaccination status survey to help us make the campus as safe as possible for everyone. I'd be grateful if you could all take part when you receive the email.
Just like the vaccination survey 11,000 of you completed in September 2021, the data will be completely anonymous.
Looking after your wellbeing during assessment time
Finally, I know that the assessment period can be quite stressful. For this reason, our Student Wellbeing Coordinator has compiled a list of nine tips to look after yourself at this busy time.
With best wishes,
Kelly
