Virtual Careers Fair
The Careers and Entrepreneurship team have organised a Virtual Careers Fair on Wednesday 3 November. You'll meet over 60 exhibitors, including American Express, Brighton and Hove City Council, and the NHS Scientist Training Programme. Find full details and register.
Make your student voice heard!
This week we're asking you to complete a short survey for each of your modules. We want to know which things we should continue doing, which ones to stop and new things we could introduce.
If you’ve not completed the survey for one or more of your modules during your teaching sessions, please complete it before the end of today.
Increasing number of Covid-19 cases in UK
We understand that the rise in Covid-19 cases across the UK may be causing some concern. As we move into winter and more activities are taking place indoors, this is somewhat expected.
We anticipate that due to the number of students and staff that have received the vaccination, this should not interfere with the delivery of your studies, and so, we'll continue to provide lectures and seminars in person.
We encourage students to wear face coverings in teaching spaces and busy public spaces on campus and in the local area, as well as to continue washing your hands frequently and taking regular Lateral Flow Tests.
Where to find information
The Student Hub is a great resource for information about various aspects of life at Sussex whether it is how to request a student enrolment letter or how to register with a GP – just ask in the search bar.
Alternatively, you can speak to our Ask Us team via phone on 01273 075333 or webchat – via the orange Ask Us button on the Student Hub homepage.
Film for COP26 awards ceremony
The Film for COP26 competition expert panel has shortlisted 12 videos and all students are invited to vote for their favourite film at the awards ceremony on Monday 1 November. Sign up for your free live event tickets on Eventbrite.
Black History Month
In the final week of Black History Month, you can see how Brighton and Hove Black History Project seeks to reveal the hidden past of our city and is helping local people map their history of Brighton and Hove.
Thank you for your kindness
Finally, I know our students do all sorts of acts of kindness, from wearing a face covering, getting vaccinated and organising volunteering groups. Today I want to thank four anonymous Sussex students who helped a woman in London Road last Saturday on behalf of her daughter, who contacted us on Facebook. Her mum had fainted, and they stayed with her until the ambulance arrived. If this was you….I hope you feel proud of what a difference you made.
With best wishes,
Kelly
