COP26 Climate Leader Prizes
Earlier this week, we announced the launch of three COP Climate Leader Prizes of £3,000 each for current students who show outstanding climate leadership in the run-up to and after the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow next month.
Applications open on 1 November, and we'll provide more details soon.
Getting tested and reporting positive cases
Even if you're fully vaccinated, we encourage you to continue taking a lateral flow test at least twice a week to help reduce the risk of transmission. Whether your test is negative or positive, please remember to log your result on the Government’s website.
If you test positive for Covid-19, you must self-isolate and complete the University’s online reporting form so we can arrange a support package for you. You can find the reporting form at the top of every page on the Student Hub.
Covid19 vaccination walk-in clinics in town
If you haven't had your Covid-19 vaccine or you need your second dose, you can visit one of the walk-in clinics in town this weekend and next week.
We strongly encourage all our students, unless you're unable due to medical reasons, to take part in the vaccination programme against Covid-19.
We’ll be completing our vaccination prize draw at the end of November, where you could be one ten students to win £5,000 if you have been double vaccinated. See all the details on the Student Hub.
Face coverings on public transport
Face coverings can significantly reduce the spread of coronavirus, including reducing transmission by people who have Covid-19 but don’t realise it.
As well as expecting you to wear them in all teaching sessions and crowded and enclosed places on campus, we’re also encouraging all students to wear a face covering (such as a mask) on buses and trains to protect the most vulnerable in the community.
Black History Month
The Students' Union has compiled a list of activities around Brighton and Lewes celebrating Black History Month. If you'd like to organise your own event, you can email events@sussexstudent.com and apply for funding.
Peer-to-peer mental health workshops
SITUATE is a collaboration between Sussex researchers and the Mental Health Foundation. They're currently running a series of workshops to help students with mental health, wellbeing, social, financial and academic work pressure. All the workshops were co-created and are delivered by Sussex undergraduates.
Sussex named best university in the world for student diversity
Finally, the University of Sussex has been awarded the Global Award for Student Diversity in the Study Portals Global Satisfaction Awards 2021, which are informed solely by student feedback.
