Monday 16 August 2021 marks 60 years since the Royal Charter was signed heralding the creation of the University of Sussex.
If you follow the University of Sussex on social media, you will notice that today we have begun to celebrate the start of our 60th anniversary with a short animation and the launch of the 60 Years of Sussex webpages. Please explore our webpages to find out more about our anniversary plans and to share your memories of Sussex.
Our main launch of the 60th anniversary celebrations will take place on 4 October 2021, to commemorate the date our first cohort of students started at Sussex. We look forward to sharing more details with all our students and staff in the coming weeks.
Over the next 12 months we will be celebrating our 60th anniversary with an evolving range of public events and activities to recognise our achievements and the amazing people behind them. The celebrations will culminate in an alumni reunion weekend on campus in September 2022.
The 60th anniversary steering group is chaired by Professor Debbie Keeling, and through this steering group we will continue to develop activities and ways for everyone to celebrate throughout the year.
