Community pledge
Last year over 4000 students and staff pledged their commitment to support each other throughout the Coronavirus pandemic by signing the Community Pledge. We've refreshed the pledge for the new academic year, and you can show your commitment to looking out for yourself and others by signing up to the new community pledge today.
Meet Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell
Between 12pm and 1.30pm on Friday 8 October, students are welcome to book an appointment for an in-person drop-in with Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell, where you can ask questions or talk about your Sussex experience. Find more information and how to book a slot.
This will be Adam Tickell’s last open office, but we’re currently recruiting for a new Vice-Chancellor. We want to hear your views on what important characteristics are required in our new Vice-Chancellor. Find out how to get involved.
Student Reps elections
The Students’ Union is accepting nominations for student reps in your School. You have until Monday to nominate yourself and make the Student Voice heard. Voting is next week.
Registration (new and returning students)
If you’ve not already done so, please remember to complete the registration process by Friday 15 October. If you've not arrived on campus yet, you still need to complete your registration.
Face coverings on public transport
Face coverings can significantly reduce the spread of coronavirus, including reducing transmission by people who have Covid-19 but don’t realise it. As well as expecting you to wear them in teaching sessions and crowded and enclosed places on campus, we’re also encouraging all students to wear a face covering (such as a mask) on buses and trains too.
Don’t miss out
Whether you're new to Sussex or returning, we hope you were able to take part in lots of the brilliant activities held during Welcome Week.
If you missed any of the events, want to find out how to be a Student Ambassador or Student Connector, take part in the Spirit of Sussex Award or look for part-time work, you can get all the answers to these questions and more on the Get Started page on the Student Hub. You can also access all of the Welcome modules through Canvas.
Don’t forget if you have any questions as a student, the Student Hub has all the essential information and guidance to ensure you can make the most of your time at Sussex.
EcoGo – get rewarded for sustainable travel
Check EcoGo, the University's new active and sustainable travel rewards scheme. Get points every time you walk, cycle or take public transport, and spend them in your favourite shops.
Rag'n'Bone Man's new video
Finally, I thought you might enjoy seeing some of our most iconic spaces on campus in Rag'n'Bone Man's new video 'Crossfire', which was filmed during the summer.
With best wishes,
Kelly
