Return to campus
The Government has indicated that the current roadmap for a much broader relaxation of restrictions is on course for 19 July, with the possibility of this being brought forward.
To give ourselves time to respond to any new measures required, we plan to welcome you back to campus from August.
This will give you the opportunity to enjoy being back on campus and familiarise yourself with the benefits of working with colleagues in normal surroundings as we move towards a full return for the start of the new academic year.
More staff are already starting to return to campus, if only for one or two days a week.
Make sure you have the agreement of your line manager so we can understand the number of people in buildings and offices.
Events to welcome you back
To welcome you back to campus you are invited to join one of our events at the ACCA café taking place over the summer.
These will give you the chance to meet up with your colleagues and take a look around campus, to see how our buildings and open spaces have changed while many of you have been working from home.
You can now book an 11am or 2pm slot between 20 July and 1 September. We’d suggest you try to arrange to attend the same event as your teammates if possible so you can reconnect face-to-face.
New flexible ways of working for Sussex staff
This week we announced the launch of a new Annual Leave Purchase Scheme (ALPS) which allows you the opportunity to buy additional annual leave.
It is one of ways we are building on our ambition for Sussex to be flexible by default and offer colleagues the opportunity to have a better work-life balance.
You are reminded to familiarise yourself with the new Remote Working Framework which comes into effect in September at the start of the academic year.
The majority of staff fall into the hybrid worker category, which means you will be expected to work a minimum of 50% on campus.
There are a range of resources on our new ways of working webpage, including FAQs to help you find more about and a managers’ toolkit to facilitate team discussions about new ways of working.
Testing
The testing facility at Bramber House will be closing next week until September. The last day you can use the facility will be on Tuesday - 10 - 2pm.
We do recommend staff who work on campus get tested regularly. You can still get a home test kit from the pharmacy on campus or order them from the NHS website.
