We're urgently working to fix a problem with access to research data on Antares this morning. Researchers are currently unable to use data stored in research drives. The High Performance Computing clusters are still up and running but any jobs which refer to data stored on research drives will be unable to run.
We're sorry for the inconvenience this is causing for researchers and we will restore access to data as soon as we can.
UPDATE: 31 Oct 2014 - 11:53am
We're making progress towards resolving this issue and are expecting to start restoring access to research data during lunchtime.
We apologise for the inconvenience this problem has been causing for researchers but we are doing all we can to restore the service quickly and will publish a further update shortly.
UPDATE: 31 Oct 2014 - 1:09pm
Research data on antares is now available again and all researchers should be able to get access as normal.
The main research storage server suffered a major fault early this morning. Although we were not able to fix the problem on the original hardware, a replica standby server was brought into operation with all data back online from 12.44pm.
We're sorry for the disruption this problem has caused for researchers this morning and will be investigating further to identify the reason for this morning's failure.
UPDATE: 31 Oct 2014 - 3:32pm
We're investigating reports of further problems using research drives on the HPC cluster. Although the earlier problems with antares were resolved, some researchers are currently unable to get access to research drives from the cluster.
We apologise for the disruption this is causing and are working to restore the service to normal as soon as we can.
The HPC cluster is able to connect to the research drives, so the system is working as normal.
We are sorry for the disruption that this problem has caused for researchers.
