Module Outline
This course will introduce students to a particular field class destination, usually overseas. After a series of preporatory lectures they will carry out data collection in situ for a period of about 10-14 days.
Analysis and writing up of a research report will take place upon their return.
The course presents an opportunity for faculty to familiarise students with a location in which they themselves conduct research and gives students the experience of carrying out their own research in that location.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, a successful student should be able to:
1. Implement quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
2. Familiarise themselves with the landscape and culture of a selected research site.
3. Write a good field report.
4. Have experience of field data collection and analysis which will assist in the preparation of their final year project.
