Unusually, here it has been possible to identify the precise engraver who made the print. The pencilled name ‘Eastop’ (bottom left) refers to an engraver who commonly made work for Dalziel, as has been established in archival work done for this project. We can also see that Eastop was paid fifteen shillings for the job (bottom right).
Eastop working with Dalziel, unidentifed illustration of a microscope, for a work published by Alexander Strahan, perhaps for a children’s or popular science book. Dalziel Archive Vol. XXVII (1870), British Museum reg. no. 1913,0415.188, print no. 332.
